![]() Georgetown Football: 2008 Recruit Profiles
In a recruiting video posted at Rivals.com, QB David King is positioned as a classic drop-back passer, firing the long ball with ease. In reality, King's work as an option quarterback is what drew a number of schools, including Georgetown, to his skills. Teams looking for a drop-back passer might have been steered away over his 2007 statistics. King's passing numbers were downright deflating--just 30 yards per game, including only two passes over the final two games of the season. But as a option quarterback, King led the Indians to average 335 yards a game on the ground en route to a 7-3 mark. King was fourth on the team in rushing, with 487 yards and five touchdowns. King's 4.56 speed in the 40 yard dash attracted attention on the 2007 summer camp circuit, raising interest from a number of Mid-American Conference schools. The opportunity to play in Georgetown's offensive sets won him over. I love the football team and the atmosphere around them, King told the Beloit Daily News. With the academics and the history behind the school, I can't wait. It's my ideal spot to be right now. [Georgetown liked] the fact that he read things so well here, said Hononegah coach Tim Sughroue. We leave people unblocked so he has to read what they do and they liked how he read things in the game. They are really excited that he can read the veer and I think it will be easier [for him] to read it out of the gun. "There are so many more opportunities for the quarterback to make plays {in that system]", King added. "Hopefully I'll be able to help the Hoyas win a few games next year.
