Over the years, Georgetown has not been afraid to take a chance on the smaller running back, and this one has some great potential ahead of him.

A two sport star at North Kingstown HS in Rhode island, Wilburn (Chance) Logan tore open the record books in 2006, leading the Skippers with 2,235 total yards as a rusher, receiver, and returner.

Logan rushed for 1,508 yards and 19 touchdowns, while catching 17 passes (15 for touchdowns). He had 92 tackles and two interceptions as a defensive back. Named to the Rhode Island All-State team, the senior opted for a postgraduate year at the Gunnery School in eastern Connecticut.

Logan led the Highlanders with 1,394 yards with 23 touchdowns as Gunnery advanced to an undefeated 8-0 season and the Colonial League prep championship. He received a number of post season honors, including All-Colonial, 1st Team All New England, as well as the New England Class B Player of Year award.

If schools only had the prep year to evaluate Logan, there may be some skepticism, given the competitive level and depth of prep school football (for example, Gunnery only had 32 players on its roster). The scope of Logan's efforts at both a large public and a small private school confirmed his abilities on the field, but the adjustment to the size I-AA play will be Logan's immediate challenge, as it was for the likes of 5-8 Mychal Harrison or even former running back Kim Sarin.

"Chance is a game-breaker," said Gunnery coach Richard Martin. "He is a threat to score whenever he touches the ball. Plus, if you threw his way in the secondary, you did so at your own risk. He is a complete player. Better yet, he is a terrific kid.”
