A two year starter on the offensive and defensive lines, Alex Matzkin became the first player to sign with a Division I school from the 2007 Buccaneer squad, which improved from a 1-8 season in 2006 to 5-5 last year. He was named to the All-Hillsborough honorable mention list from the Tampa Tribune.

Matzkin selected Georgetown over Lafayette, Brown and Elon.

The 265 lb. Matzkin is expected to add depth to the offensive line and push for the two-deep. "The team is primarily young guys and I feel can be very successful in a few years,” Matzkin told the Tampa Tribune.
