Copley Hall (1930)

Leaving the Quadrangle, we proceed north to Copley Hall. The first phase of an ambitious building project in the late 1920's, the Copley Hall dormitory was the first of three great stone buildings to form the Andrew White Quadrangle (above), joined by Gravenor Hall for the sciences and Poulton Hall for classrooms.

In the midst of the Great Depression, Poulton was never completed and the name was subsequently given to a building of lesser stature. Copley remains a Georgetown treasure, however, and a prime address for on-campus housing.
