Preview

After a three game run that was as difficulty as any faced in Division I this season, Georgetown returns home for a seven game homestand that, excepting Syracuse on Dec. 5, should yield comfortable victories and an opportunity to build its efforts for Big East conference play. First up: a Bryant University team who has struggled in five games this year and whose three point shooting numbers need a decided boost to compete with the Hoyas.

Bryant's two wins this season have come against Division III Emerson and a winless Prairie View team. In its last game, the Bulldogs lost by 35 to Harvard, shooting just 3 for 20 from outside. From a season high of 13 threes in its opener to Duke, those numbers have slide each and every week. The Bulldogs figure to do better than 15 percent against the Hoyas, but need help across the board to contend.

A three guard offense leads the Bulldogs into Washington Saturday. Sophomore Hunter Ware is the team's best shooter to date, shooting 49 percent from the field, 40 percent from three, and 85 percent from the line. More must be expected from senior Shane McLoughlin, whose outside shooting (18%) and free throw shooting (50%) are proving early liabilities.

McLoughlin is the only upperclassmen to start for Bryant, who will look to forwards Dan Garvin (8.3) and Gus Riley (7.2) to hold the fort against a much taller Georgetown lineup. The Bulldogs have only one forward with more than two points a game (freshman Marcel Pettway), whose 250 lb. frame will see more action Saturday than his numbers to date might suggest.

Georgetown has been able to involve every one of its healthy scholarship players in the games to date, and the trend should continue over the next two games. Bryant has given up an average of 90 points a game in its three losses this season, and this could open the door for a big scoring game from Georgetown's guards.

Keys To The Game

No Radford Redux: A good start and focused play throughout will ensure no repeat of the unsettling opener.

Three Point Defense: Bryant's best hope in this game is from outside--Georgetown must seize the initiative and close the outside lanes down.

Trey Mourning, part 3: Another games where Mourning needs more playing time to be a realistic center option when Big East play begins.
