The Multi-Sport Facility will provide a new gathering place for the Georgetown community, including hundreds of academic, athletic, and educational events. To date, $12 million has been raised towards the $22.5 million project.

As part of his gift to the Multi-Sport facility, an anonymous donor has issued a Parents Challenge where any six-figure major gifts by parents to the Multi-Sport Facility will be matched up to a total of $5 million. Those parents accepting the challenge will receive a naming opportunity within the facility at a level of their gift plus the matching amount.

The challenge is open to all past and current parents.

Here are the key aspects of the Multi- Sport Facility:

  • A seating capacity of 4,500 with the capability to expand seating for home football and lacrosse games and other games and activities
  • A five-level building to house a modern intercollegiate athletics program including new locker and training rooms, coaching and administrative offices
  • New team rooms, press and coaches’ boxes
  • A promenade for picking up tickets, concessions, and gathering
  • A presidential suite and picnic area
  • A durable field to maximize intercollegiate, intramural and recreational use
  • Lights to allow for all types of athletic and academic uses, day and night.

In addition, the Multi-Sport Facility will serve as a catalyst for a refocusing on Hoya sports teams, enabling school spirit to be strengthened.

Moreover, since it will be situated at the heart of campus, the Multi-Sport Facility will be central to furthering the education of our undergraduate students and the youth of Washington, D.C. It will also serve as a reminder of the remarkable impact Athletics has in the life of Georgetown University and the community within and beyond its gates.

Interested alumni, parents and friends should contact Dave Sears (202-687-2394 or searsd@georgetown.edu) or Jennifer Shaheen (202-687-6308 or jms36@georgetown.edu) in the Athletic Development Office.
